Teachable Moment

For once, Hope n' Change actually agrees with the president - this is a "teachable moment." Absent anything like a genuine apology (he admits only that his words could have been "better calibrated"), we can see that even when he admittedly doesn't know the facts, the president harbors negative prejudices against whites in general and police in particular.

But more frighteningly, the president acts on those prejudices - making statements on national television which unavoidably ramp up racial tensions, and choosing a Supreme Court nominee who dismissed the rights of white firefighters without even the courtesy of issuing a formal legal opinion.

Teachable Moment - Pop Quiz: In an effort to make the controversy go away, Obama has invited Professor Gates and Sgt. Crowley to the Whitehouse for a beer.

Question 1: if Gates is asked for a picture ID at the Whitehouse, will he shriek and insult Obama's mother?

Question 2:
if Sgt. Crowley is asked for a picture ID at the Whitehouse, do you think he'll throw a screaming fit or act like a rational adult?

Free Bonus: from the Hope n' Change Gift Shoppe, the official "Calibration" motivational poster!

UPDATE: audio of actual 911 call released. The woman who called never brought up race, and stressed that she didn't know if it was a break-in or just someone having a hard time getting into their home. Listen to Gates 911 call here.

Yeah, imagine the damage he'd do if he was on national radio three hours a day?

I can almost hear the radio show now...

GATES: Welcome to You Don't Know Who You're Dealing With! And here's our first caller...

CALLER: Hi! Is this Professor Gates?

GATES: I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE WHO I AM! YOUR MAMA KNOWS WHO I AM!

Apparently the female police officer has taken this as a "teachable moment." Hope n' Change applauds her courage in coming forward and speaking out.
