Keeping a Straight Face

obama, obama jokes, cartoon, pelosi, budget cuts, hope n' change, hope and change, conservative, stilton jarlsberg, cupboard

Some lies are so preposterous that observers can't help but wonder if the liar in question might have a squishy, rotting, grapefruit-sized tumor where their brain should be.

In this case, Hope n' Change is referring to Nancy Pelosi, who is no stranger to lying but has just delivered what might be a career best. Specifically, Nancy has declared that there's no point in Republicans or Tea Party types trying to seek any governmental spending cuts ever again, because "the cupboard is bare. There's no more cuts to make."

That's right- there's not a single government penny being wasted, and not one which can be spared.

No government programs, however redundant, which can be cut. No fraud remaining to be eliminated. No Solyndra-type loans which are ill-considered. In fact, thanks to the complete elimination of "pork," the government's budget has just been declared halal (Allah be praised!)

Despite Ms. Pelosi's invocation of Old Mother Hubbard, we're still not 100% convinced that the government cupboard is as bare as she says it is - especially when the Obozo family continues wracking up multi-million dollar vacations, throwing posh Whitehouse parties, and Congress just magically found funds (perhaps hiding in the sofa cushions?) to pay all of their Obamacare premiums while the rest of us get jammed with higher rates.

So maybe the cupboard really isn't bare. But one thing is certain: the "truths" spoken by Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats are entirely empty.

Wow! Great way to start a Monday morning. Glad I got that splatter shield for my screen. Ohhhh Sweet Jesus I'm stll laughing as I type.

Every time I see that "woman" I remember what Dennis Miller said about her once. And I'm paraphrasing, "You know that woman sleeps upside down."

I don't know who is more bat-shit crazy, her or Harry Reems or Debbie was-a-man Shultz.

Have a good day y'all.

Stilt, hoping things are going well for you and yours.

I had planned on going to eat at Texas Roadhouse tonight, but after seeing that cartoon I don't think I have the stomach for it.

A funny, funny cartoon accompanied by a sad, sad truth. There are thousands, maybe millions of California Obamaphone voters that still think Nan is relevant and is looking out for them, and they will keep voting for her sorry ass until the cows come home. I just wish the old cow WOULD go home... permanently.

It is truly remarkable that Mitt Romney can get barbequed for mistakenly calling his 23rd grandchild number 22, but Nan can vomit up whoppers like this, and nothing but crickets coming from NBC et al.

Oh, and by the way, Mitt's # 23 grandkid is (GASP!) BLACK!!! How dare he!

When I lived in Loss Angelhairpasta I used to sell heating and air-conditioning components to L.A. City School District, and at the end of the fiscal year they would send me work orders of $250,000.00 for thermostats and gas valves that they could NEVER use, just to spend the allotted budget so they don't have next years monies reduced. I worked in government contract businesses where my customer was NASA or the DOD, and the gov't behaved as the Niagara Falls of currency-printing. Nancy Pegrossi is MARRIED to a businessman, and I can't be persuaded that she could utter such bovine-exhaust with a straight face, (but considering her botox addiction, I imagine that tectonic plates move easier than her facial features).
I used to be used as an "efficiency expert" in manufacturing, and I'll guaran-damn-tee you, if I were to be put in charge of saving money with THIS government, and was paid 1% of what I saved while still allowing gov't to perform its duty and function, I would be richer than the 20 richest guys on the planet COMBINED within 1 year, and the only guys that would "feel the pain" would be the dickweeds that fund "Piss Christ" and "Faygelah Poetry"
When I read your exclamation, what came to mind was lamont having an A.D.D. moment and saying "GERBIL"!

I hate to tell you this folks, but for once, the wicked witch of the west didn't lie. From a wealth-redistributing Democrat's perspective, there is indeed "no more cuts to make". They have to keep their cronies well fed and the feedback loops in place to maintain campaign cash. Cutting spending means less money working its way back to their pockets.

And like @Bruce Bleu said above, I too think I'd have little trouble balancing the budget as well. (And I'd do it for only a .08% commission)

Mark Steyn nailed this over the weekend:

"Is all this spending necessary? Every day, the foot-of-page-37 news stories reveal government programs it would never occur to your dime-store caudillo to blow money on. On Thursday, it was the Food and Drug Administration blowing just shy of $200 grand to find out whether its Twitter and Facebook presence is “well-received.” A fifth of a million dollars isn’t even a rounding error in most departmental budgets, so nobody cares... But they’ve got $182,000 to splash around on finding out whether people really like them on Facebook, or they’re just saying that. So they’ve given the dough to a company run by Dan Beckmann, a former “new media aide” to President Obama. That has the whiff of the banana republic about it, too.

The National Parks Service, which I had carelessly assumed was the service responsible for running national parks, has been making videos on Muslim women’s rights: “Islam gave women a whole bunch of rights that Western women acquired later in the 19th and 20th centuries, and we’ve had these rights since the seventh century,” explains a lady from AnNur Islamic School in Schenectady, N.Y., at the National Park Service website, Fascinating stuff, no doubt. But what’s it to do with national parks? Maybe the rangers could pay Dan Beckmann a quarter-million bucks to look into whether the National Parks’ Islamic outreach is using social media as effectively as it might."

Basically said, cutting government spending defunds the left. It's the only salvation for this country.

She's right, you know. Why, we could never stop AMTRAK subsidies and let train passenger service sink or swim on its own economic merits. We could never stop ethanol subsidies. We could never stop bailing out failed corporations. We could never stop subsidizing "green" businesses owned by Obama supporters. Nope. We could never do that, so US credit will be downgraded to less than junk bond status, and we'll go into the dustbin of history as yet another human failure.

John the Econ, your last sentence just nailed it. The liberals voting to cut funding would be like them voting to pull themselves off life support. They're too self-absorbed with a sense of self-worth to do that...

Listening to Obama's speech at the UN. No matter how hard he tries, he's actually made the argument for the Iraq war in his justifying action for Syria.

And he actually justified American military action in the name of oil.

Boy, how things change when you're actually in charge of something.

PRY said...

John, I tried watching THE ONE's UN thing, but remembered I had much more important tasks at hand, such as taking out the garbage!

We indeed have two distinct ways of looking at issues in the country is mostly factual, considering the political side it comes from, and the other is totally untrue, exhibited by Pelosi's posturing.

The other day I was telling my daughter (34, and never votes), that from what I read, the left will stay in power as long as they keep giving things to people and buying votes. The rest of us are too busy working and taking care of business and don't believe our vote will make a difference. Also, I think she is typical of many younger Americans nowdays...the issues are too complicated and they do not know who to listen to, so they do not vote, while the Obama crownd KNOWS which side their bread is buttered, and come hell of high water, THEY WILL VOTE!

I do not see this changing, so I'm pretty sure the progressives will keep the whitehouse. The conservative side is losing by not addressing this issue and reaching out to a huge voting bloc, and they are losing by being afraid to call out the liars on the left!

Prayin for us all every day!

PRY said...

Oh, another thing...after the repubs cave and fund OCARE, and it kicks in and causes complete havoc in millions of peoples' lives, I can see Obama now, saying into the camera, how his AFFORDABLE CARE ACT is doing so much good for so many people. The lies will never stop!

That image of San Fran Nan has been nagging at the bac kof my brain, and it finally occurred ot me what it reminded me of....

@WMD- I'll bet that when Nancy DOES sleep upside down, nothing drops, droops, or otherwise relocates anywhere on her body.

@TrickyRicky- That's the jaw-dropping part. The willingness to be utterly incoherent and irrational. The frustrating part is that they always get away with it.

@Robert L Sudbury III- Yeah, Nancy will do that. Maybe some jerky instead?

@Colby- Scads of Californians love Nancy, which is why I have such a fondness for the tectonic plates which might eventually help the state go the way of Atlantis.

Regarding Romney, just because a black child has been adopted doesn't mean he's not a slave. Expect to hear details from the Lefties soon.

@Grumpy Curmudgeon- It's a true rule of comedy that any sentence you say which includes "braunschweiger" is funny. If "Pelosi" is in the same sentence, you've hit gold.

@Thomas- Well THAT explains a lot! Pod people in Washington!

@Bruce Bleu- I've seen the same thing here in Texas; "spend it on anything, or lose it for next year." Because god forbid you should actually come in under budget and return a little something to the general fund.

And in the meanwhile, there are tens of thousands of idiotic expenditures being made by the government which could and should be cut. Starting with Nancy's embalming fluid spa weekends.

@Reloader- Well, you know Nancy and dumpsters: she can't pass one without seeing what's in it.

@John the Econ- I'll concede that Nancy wasn't "lying" because she said what she truly believes. At the same time, her statement is an untruth of legendary proportion.

And you've certainly gotten the bottom line right: we MUST cut government spending to starve the left.

@Fiftyville- I assume you were using stink-bait?

@Ogrrre- I appreciate a man who can seize pessimism so firmly and express it so clearly.

@Reiuxcat- I was thinking more along the lines of "Sufferin' Succotash."

@It's No Gouda- Still, it will be impressive to watch her eat bananas!

@Bacon- Exactly. The Libs define their goodness and superiority by passing out OUR money. When they stop doing that, they have no reason to exist - and no way to justify the fact that they don't actually contribute a damn thing of value to our economy, our culture, or our country.

@John the Econ- My favorite was Obama's assertion that over the past 5 years of his administration, the world has become a more "stable" place. Which is true, if you assume a stable is something full of manure.

@PRY- I frequently despair at this country's younger voters and their lack of ability to reason. They have no perspective, from either age or education, and have lost the ability to read, think, and analyze. The Left not only capitalizes on this, they also do everything in their power to keep their young sycophants dumb and entertained.

Regarding Obamacare, I just read a nice piece about a typical family who just found out their rates are TRIPLING under Obamacare. About a week from now, we're going to be hearing a LOT of stories like that. Except in the mainstream media.

@Colby- Yes, the resemblance is striking. And more than a little appalling.
