Cirque du So What

Today marks the kickoff of the 2016 Republican Convention, which we fully expect to be a wild, raucous, unpredictable affair which would depress the living snot out of us if we were to actually watch it.

Oh, we'll surely catch snippets here and there when someone says something egregiously stupid, controversial, or both. But for the most part, we're expecting little more than a big cotton-candy scented blast of hot air coming from the proceedings.

At least, that's what we expect inside the hall...

Outside is another story altogether. Consider the recent news: the tragic killing of 3 more police officers in Baton Rouge just yesterday - hard on the heels of the monstrous killings of 5 officers in Dallas. The introduction of delivery trucks as deadly weapons of jihad in Nice, France. Increasingly confrontational anti-white demonstrations by Black Lives Matter and the New Black Panther Party (the Old Black Panthers having long since turned Gray, gone bald, or died in soured drug deals). Demonstrations, we should note, that are encouraged by our cop-hating president - whose anti-police remarks about Alton Sterling's death in the absence of facts were in may well have contributed to the motivation of the Baton Rouge killer.

We'll see Code Pink, Planned Abortionhood, Occupy Wall Street, the "Make America Mexico Again" illegal alien advocates, Union thugs, and of course Bernie Sanders's distraught army of disillusioned youth who are swarming out of their parents' basements (blinking at the sunlight) to demand "No Free College, No Peace!" And sadly, we'll surely see a significant number of miscreants heading into the streets with no agenda other than anarchy and violence.

And even though the circus calliope will be toot-toot-tootling away and the sequined ringmaster will hurriedly direct our attentions away from topics we're not supposed to think about, we can't quite escape the awareness that the world increasingly seems to be on fire - be it devastating terror attacks, Brexit, a failed coup in Turkey, Iran blatantly ignoring their nuclear treaty with Barry while test firing missiles, or Putin stepping up his aggressions when not casually thumbing through Hillary's purloined, top secret emails.

We hope with every fiber of our beings that the seriousness inside the GOP Convention will match the seriousness of the world outside that "big tent." But we doubt that it will happen.

And more than ever, clowns scare us.

And don't forget that those nice black kittens said that they will be 'open carrying' in Cleveland during (and perhaps beyond) the convention. Methinks it will be a war zone. Sad.

I've always been afraid of clowns, now I know why. Thanks.

@Fred Ciampi- Yes, they say they'll be "open carrying" for self-defense. You know, because the president claims that racist cops are hunting black men for sport and it's time to do something about it.

@Judi King- A greasepaint smile can hide a lot of evil intent.

The entire planet appears to be coming apart at the seams. Not only from the human race perspective, but literally as well. Earthquakes and volcanic activity are at historic levels.
The Rapture and Armageddon can not be far off.

Well... I'm expecting a sort of rapture-like event in a little over 185 days when this miserable POTUS is out of that high office; and although set back from all this, USA will have survived and will learn from it. How about some mandated minimum job requirements to hold office at both POTUS & VP level? Enact objective vetting & background research? No more BS artists, liars, clowns, & traitors.

Now boys and girls, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will come and go. Yet, some will not be able to be present. As for the Cleveland Circus, I pray it will be as peaceful as possible.

The Democraps will have their shindig and as we all know...payback is hell!
Geoff obviously reads the scriptures and signs of the time. It's not a pretty picture.

I recall a bumper sticker from a while back...Jesus is coming back and boy is he pissed!

To all readers and posters of H&C, be aware of your surroundings, don't go to slippery places. least you slip and stay safe.

I find it amusing that despite the Chamberpot Repubs losing the last two sElections and the highest voting numbers for a first time candidate Outsider that Trump is still opposed by the very same Pretending Conservatives that have pushed Lyin Ryan and his fully funding of Obamy's spending and amnesty pogroms.
The Republican Base has finally had enough! Lyin Ryan and McCain the Pretender hopefully will lose their primary elections and miss Trump's Inauguration, how fitting is that?

I'll be amazed if the RNC makes it to the closing gavel without bloodshed or even death. There is no doubt in my mind that the black panthers (no, you don't deserve capital letters) are "carrying" to provoke exactly that outcome. But... I am praying for peace and that cooler heads will prevail. I'll admit, though, that there is a small part of me that wants total chaos to ensue at the DNC! Shame on me!

GenEarly,
This year actually could spell the beginning of the end for the old guard Republicans like McCain, McConnell and the like. I sure hope so. I'm sick to tears of these RINO's who claim to fight for us and for The Constitution, then turn around and kiss O'Liar's ass over and over and over and....

Say what you will about Trump and the RNC convention being polarizing... at least he's not invited anyone like this to speak. That's right. Shrillary has invited Michael Brown’s mother, Lezley McSpadden to throw "truth bombs" and other incendiary rhetoric at the DNC convention. That's bound to help improve tensions in the country. Not.

If I were a police officer, I'm not sure which convention I'd want to work at less. One is a natural target for hate groups, and the other is apparently going to go out of its way to incite the mob against the police.

It seems like an almost weekly event that we are subjected to yet another political speech/lecture about the attack du jour be it by a jihadi or one of his peeps in BLM. Can you even imagine what the press would be doing to George W. Bush if even a tenth of what is going on were under his watch? Hell, they excoriated him daily when gas prices went up. I am sick and tired of this poseur getting a pass. The blood of those policemen are on his hands. When the Michael Brown incident occurred in Ferguson, a real statesman would have tried to diffuse the racially charged situation and pled for calm and common sense. Instead, he threw gas on the fire and legitimized the false claims. Even after the Dallas memorial, he legitimized BLM by inviting them and the other racial agitators to the "summit." Mentioning the incident in Baton Rouge all over the world - literally - drove a murderous thug from somewhere else to massacre police. Enough!

Many of you (after all) are watching at least some of the RNC. It's different than in the past. And there are a lot of empty seats in the hall which I suppose(?)is due to RINO Republicans sitting out, no other candidate delegates in attendance, and highly controlled show. If there's a more valid explanation I'd like to hear it. Frankly I don't know what to make of this RNC. It sounds like it's "Trump control" yet when he speaks it's worn out. But I do like how the OTHER speakers are taking it DIRECTLY to Obama & Hillary in clear, precise manner.

And it's so transparent about how Democrat operatives in so-called news programs are fully energized; jumping all over anything they can latch onto, criticize & ridicule. Prime example: Presenting Chris Matthews as a journalist is a joke.
