One Of Those Daze

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, racism, trump, hillary, police, town hall

Yes, this is one of those days (Thursday, at the time of this writing) when a LOT is going to be newsworthy on Friday...but none of it has actually happened yet. Which makes it pretty difficult to write anything like cogent commentary, even when we're cold sober.

On Thursday night, Barack Obama was scheduled to do a town hall meeting on race relations and policing in America, and there's no way he could say anything in the least bit helpful. Seriously, do we need to hear him again claim (as he did at the memorial service for five murdered officers in Dallas) that it's easier for inner city black kids to get glocks than books?!  Now, if he'd said "thanks to the dead end inner city educational system institutionalized by Democrats and teachers unions, it's easier for black kids to understand glocks than books," he might have had a valid point.

But no, we expect him to simply harangue white people again, leaning especially hard on an invisible "implicit racism" which is the Left's only explanation for why things have gotten so much worse for black Americans after 8 years of a black president.

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, racism, trump, hillary, police, town hall

Taking another look in the "hasn't quite happened yet" news category, we're on the very cusp of the Republican convention - which we're betting will be anything other than "conventional" this time around - especially after Barry puts his stamp of approval on (ahem) "peaceful" demonstrations at his racial town hall meeting. And even now, we expect that George Soros is bussing in a small army of protesters, agitators, arsonists, ne'er do wells, scofflaws, rock flingers, socialists, and sociopaths along with truckloads of professionally union-printed signs to make it appear that there are many independent groups rioting instead of just one huge, very well-funded group.

Also in the news on Friday will be exhaustive (and exhausting) discussion of Donald Trump's selection of running mate, currently expected to be Indiana Governor Mike Pence.  This isn't exactly a shock, owing to the fact that pretty much all of the other VP finalists had at one time or another called Trump an idiot, faker, or racist on video - which would make for pretty easy and damning campaign ads for Hillary. Not that she's exactly hurting for material as it is.

Frankly, we would have liked to see Trump name Ruth Bader Ginsburg as his surprise running mate simply because the shock might have been more than her withered old heart could stand. One can always dream.

But because we've been reduced to largely speculative commentary today, we'd like to leave you with at least a little something more tangible. Specifically, a repeat of last year's recipe for the official Hope n' Change Summer Cooler:

Seriously, these are good. And all things considered, probably necessary.

ADDENDUM: BASTILLE DAY TERROR

Long after the page above was finished, we started getting news about the horrible carnage in Nice, France where scores of innocents have been killed in the streets.  At the time of this writing, not many specifics are known and the body count is rising.

Today's commentary was deliberately intended to be lighthearted and funny after a really rough run of recent domestic news. Which forced us to make a choice: scrub the commentary because of the seriousness of the attack, or leave it up because we desperately need a few chuckles?

Eventually, we chose the latter...but it was a coin flip. With the deepest of sympathy and sincerity our hearts go out to the many victims and grieving families in France.

And you said it first Stilt (I was going to). Soros busing all the "peaceful demonstrators" into 37 cities. How, oh how, can those nice people over at BLM afford to put on a show at 37 separate cities all at the same time? And are my new eyeballs playing tricks on me (just had cataract surgery, hence the 'new'), but I think I see the same faces at different demonstrations across the country. How do all those nice people get from place to place in such a short time? They must own their own aircraft. Or something.

And did I hear obammy allude to the carnage in Nice, France as 'road rage'? Oh, what a time for my doctor to tell me to now have any booze. Just had an attack of diverticulitis and am on 'no booze' meds. Oh, the humanity!!!!!

I was surprised that Ă˜bastard actually called what happened in Nice a "horrific terrorist attack", instead of saying we can't be sure of the motive or blaming the truck.
I think Europe is finally realizing that we are at war with Islam and is starting to prepare for battle.
If only we had someone here with the cajones to do the same.

Newt Gingrich gave the best speech regarding the terrorist attack in Nice. At least someone in the US government has a clue.

Good choice doc, for if we choose to give up humour because of the tears it's gonna be a very long painful way till Nov and beyond.

Little did I realize you were a physician? All the better now. However, I have this continual pain in my gluteus maxima whenever I hear or see OSambo! Further, I ask how you may assist me in a severe case of optirectumilitis? It seems everything I see has reason for me to have a shitty outlook on the future of this(used to be our)country. Because of the great strides made by your due diligence and continual presentation of facts(political or otherwise), I know there is hope.
Keep up the great work. I truly, no bullshit added for flavor, enjoy postings 3X's a week.

BTW: The Blue Angels are flying here in Pensacola this weekend!

Since we appear to have more open and soft-target culture-war breaking out on several fronts; it seems appropriate that Democrats cease trying to start yet another on our turf. I hope there will be true justice. The next two weeks of national political conventions may show us a lot.

@Fred Ciampi, as the saying goes, "We may not be at war with islam, but islam certainly is at war with US!"

The way things seem to be going, I may be guzzling down your summer coolers for the next few years.

What Newt said!

“Let me be as blunt as I can be. Western civilization is in a war. Frankly, test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia they should be deported. Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door. But we need to be fairly relentless about defining who our enemies are."

He went on to make a number of specific suggestions about how to deal with those savages - some I agree with, some I don't - but I'm 100% on board with the general tenor of his remarks.

He sounds like a pretty good choice fro Trump's VP...

Glocks vs Books: Perhaps that's because the demand for Glocks is much greater than that for books in certain communities where Progressive politicians and policies are dominant. Once again, our President displays his dismal understanding of basic economics. (It would certainly explain Recovery Summer VII, yet another mediocre sequel)

Implicit Racism: Is there any other venue on the planet where abject failure itself is the justification for more of the same policies that brought on the abject failure?

Mike Pence: Who knows. If the New York Times is correct, he could be our next President.

I just heard Hillary said that Pence is the "most extreme VP pick in a generation." This from a woman who is considering Elizabeth Warren?

Ginsburg: Without a doubt, behavior unbecoming of a Supreme Court justice. Of course, there will be no consequences for her, but could you imagine the furor if one of the conservative justices said something similar about Hillary?

France: Welcome to the new normal. Not long after hearing about this, I tuned into CNN just in time for this insipid exchange:

Reporter in France: "The delivery truck drove about 2 kilometers running over people. When it came to a stop, the driver started shooting with an assault weapon"

Wolf Blitzer: "Do you think this was terrorism?"

No Wolf, it was just another random incident of workplace violence.

So Wolf, I understand that your ilk is ideologically predisposed to resist the notion that the vast majority of the terrorism and violence in the world today is driven by Islam, and wish that we'd share that view. But this level of denial is not doing your cause any good. If you must, simply deliver the facts (A truck plowed down hundreds of people, and then the driver came out shooting at police) and let the rest of us come to the conclusion. All you're doing is convincing us that you're a tool.

In the meantime: When can we expect Democrats in Congress to demand "common sense" regulations regarding delivery trucks? How about a "No fly, no drive" bill?

Demonstrators: I've never fully understood this, not only because it really doesn't achieve anything positive for the cause of the demonstrators, but because they actually achieve the exact opposite. For example, it's been said that it was the hippie agitators of the '60s that brought Ronald Reagan to the national spotlight. The vast majority of Americans found the hippies and their behavior repulsive, so naturally the gravitated to Reagan's no-nonsense approach. How many million more votes did Trump get after all those demonstrations with the illegal aliens waving Mexican flags? And how many million more after some of those demonstrations went violent?

So be happy to let the left own this kind of behavior.

Sure, she "apologized" but Buzzy also knows "you can't un-ring a bell."

Well, that should help the employment figures. I wonder if he issues 1099s or W2s. Does he file the 941s for the enterprise? File his portion of SS and Medicare? (He should like the SS part, given his previous WWII experience with them).

I am glad you completed and included Thursdays post. Too much, too soon already been said about the terror attack in Paris. By Monday, perhaps enough of the fog of rhetoric will fade, as well our collective hangovers. Maybe we'll see it all in a fresh light before starting the binge all over again.

Walter1694cir,
I'm considered somewhat of an expert in this field. Your optirectumilitis is a symptom that stems from constant exposure to O'Liar's acute cranailrectumosis (head up ass). He's probably beside himself with worry trying to find a way to blame the truck, or the people "stupidly" blocking the street.

Mike Pence. Great choice, actually. Donald needed some political cred, and Pence has the experience, and doesn't come with Newt's baggage. Don't get me wrong, Newt would be awesome, but too many skeletons in the old closet.

Darth Vader Ginsberg? What a sniveling little piss ant! And yes, there are NO consequences for her. Although, we can take pleasure in the thought of (if Trump wins) the possibility of 3 or 4 new right wing judges to put a final, big assed damper on her socialist agenda.

Stilton,

I like your recipe, but would substitute rum for vodka. And maybe add a bit of Ammaretto if you can afford it. This time of year, Mrs. Muenster makes zabbione (sp). I highly recommend it!

Joh the Econ said, "I just heard Hillary said that Pence is the "most extreme VP pick in a generation." This from a woman who is considering Elizabeth Warren?" No shit! Broke-a-hontas and Lie-a-watha. Sheesh

The TV ratings are in. Obama's town hall on race was beaten by a rerun of The Big Bang Theory. Also, the town hall was pre-recorded and edited by ABC for maximum Obama spin.

I'm beginning to believe the decision not to indict Hillary was probably the best thing that could have happened. The palpable anger is currently being reflected in her dismal performance in the polls. And despite multi-millions being spent on anti-Trump ads so far, the best she can do is a dead heat. She can keep spouting all the hyperbole she wants because most people realize she can't open her pie hole without lying.

I am pleased with the selection of Pence for VP. I agree that Newt would carry too much baggage. However, I have heard rumors he might be Trump's chief of staff, which would be a great choice.

Regarding the attempted military coup directed against currently Islamic leadership of Turkey: I personally find this of great interest because ~20+ years ago I was on a petroleum-related job in Baku, Azerbaijan (former Soviet-controlled satellite nation prior the collapse of the USSR in early 90's) and there was essentially an Islamic vs Christian war going on between Azerbaijan and Armenia, stirred up as usual by those who hold the puppet strings: the Russians. There was a mostly peaceful as it tuned out but clearly on the scene military coup and change of government in Baku and while this was sorted out. We had to get out of town fast under US State Department order. Our place of refuge before some (not all) of us were able to return and finish the job later was... Istanbul, Turkey. Turkey used to be stable and interesting nation. Mostly Islamic but very western and a member of NATO. A good friend of the USA. It was very safe and becoming very modern. Now all this crap is going on there. These things move at glacial pace and it's why they're often ignored; but I don't like the direction this is moving.

I made a batch of those HnC Summer Coolers a year ago. And though Popov vodka is perhaps best enjoyed straight from a brown paper bag, those coolers were most tasty. And though I likely die of renal failure, at least it won't be from scurvy.

Death toll in Nice: 84.
Our Founding Fathers never envisioned a wagon or stagecoach pulled by more than six or eight horses. It is past time we ban those high-horsepower, carbon-emitting assault trucks.

BTW I have books I will trade for glocks
(although I will gladly trade for others esp 1911a types, I might just give 2 books for those, oh and for a real assault rifle, not a media one I will give 3 books-- of your choice no less)......just cause I want to help.

Here's another recipe for a summer cooler:

Start with frozen pink lemonade concentrate and gin. Keep the gin in your freezer so that it pours like a light syrup. Mix equal volumes of the lemonade concentrate and gin in a blender that has also been in your freezer. To these add about the same volume of ice and blend until you have a slurry. Now, PAY ATTENTION! Mix this slurry half-and-half with with BEER - good, genuine beer - NOT Budweiser. It's called a skip-and-go-naked. Be brave - try it.

Juan the Econ,
You've got to give Wolf Blitzkrieg some slack, (well, as far as urinalism is concerned, he IS a "slacker"), before entering the world of urinalism he had an IQ of about "9". When HR got through with his interview, his IQ became 10 points less. For a certifiable imbecile, he's actually performing rather well! The one thing that puzzles me is, where do they perform the "feces for brains" organ transplant?
