Halfocaust

Barack Hussein Obama continues to beat the American people over the head with the focus-group tested terms "compromise" and "balanced approach" regarding our nation's spending crisis. After all, what could be more reasonable than compromise? What could be more fair than "balance?"

And while many well-intended idiots (including
plenty in the media) will swallow that reasoning hook, line, and sinker, Hope n' Change has posed the little thought experiment above in hopes of getting people to realize that "compromising" to commit half of a great evil is still a great evil.

Would just 3 million Jews in Germany's ovens have been no big deal? If the Oslo shooter only killed
half as many victims, should we shrug it off and say "that seems fair"? If only one World Trade Center tower crashed into the streets of New York, would it have failed to make the nightly news? Would lynch mobs who hang only 50% of blacks, latinos, gays, Muslims, Christians, or corporate jet owners be acting in the highest and most noble traditions of our forefathers?

Of course not. The idea is an
obscenity.

Which is why it's so appalling to hear Obama - the
alleged master of language - use terms like "balance" and "compromise" for such perverse ends. Seriously, this president uses words the way a pederast uses children...debasing them for his personal pleasure.

If an Obama-style "compromise" or "balanced approach"
is ultimately agreed upon by the Republicans, then God help our republic.

Because we'll be
more than halfway to Hell.

An optimist sees the grave as half-empty. A pessimist sees it as half-full.
But a compromiser sees it as "just right."

Dude, I'm a big fan of your comic, but this is going just a smidge too far. There's a line, and I'm pretty sure you jumped waaaaaay over it here.

For a day's comic dedicated to NOT pushing a limit, you seem to have contradicted yourself. The choice of material stands in sharp contrast compared to your usual humor.

Some mules just don't want to listen, no matter how sweetly you speak to them. On rare occasions it takes a 2X4 between the eyes to get their attention. This comic is a 2X4. My concern is for those whose senses are so dulled they still don't feel it. All we can do for them is remind them to vote on November 7, 2012.

I have no problem with today's comic. I find it topical and accurate.

It's a spot on cartoon delivered with a sledge hammer. We know this president is a socialist and hates capitalism. We know that he needs independents more than ever. And by independents it's going to be those who have not been paying attention and fall prey to these "poll-tested" words. For pity sake. Obama now claims to be channeling Reagan and probably thinks he's Churchill when he calls for shared sacrifice. Ill-educated people fall for this crap all the time. We will soon reach the point where more people look to government for their piece of pie than contribute to making the pie. At that point it's all over and you can kiss this country goodbye. This is a very appropriate cartoon that addresses the gravity of the situation.

There was certainly a line crossed ... an Obama crossed it a long time ago. These comics are commentary. That there is no laugh-line only indicates that this particular issue has no aspect of humor to it … but the commentary is certainly to the point!

Stan said...

I found this one tasteless. In addition the analogies are bad. Budget negotiations and mass murder are not moral equivalents.

There are more likenesses between Hitler and Obama than most people will care to admit, and its quite scary.

http://www.postchronicle.com/commentary/Obama_Very_tempting_To_Become_A_Dictator_Video_Where_Is_The_Media__20110727.shtml

I have read a lot of books about the holocaust. And one big thing was that many of the Jews could have gotten out before things got bad, but they refused to believe that things would really get that bad. What's a little hate here or there..they'll make it through....what's a little lack of prayer in the veterans cemetery....we'll get through....what's a lack of approval in Congress...we'll get through....it will never be as bad as THAT...

Many of these people were killed in the ovens, after thinking "it will never be as bad as THAT..."

I hope that Stilt went to far today...however, I've read too much about Hitler to be overconfident enough to say he has. There is a chance he has not gone too far today. Let's change this country before the above comic becomes stark, unchangeable truth.

@Anonymous1 & Anonymous2- (And weren't those characters in The Cat In The Hat?) Sorry if you're offended, but I stand by the cartoon and commentary (keep reading for details).

@Angry Hoosier Dad- See, you get it. If Hillary Clinton's ghostwritten book was "It Takes a Village," then my personally written book will someday be "It Takes a Two-by-Four." In order to demonstrate that compromise isn't always a great idea, and that "meeting in the middle" isn't always fair, then I had to pose an extreme (but real) example.

@Anonymous3- Thank you.

@Earl- You saved me a lot of typing! This is a cartoon about words and the fact that many, such as "compromise," have no actual meaning without context. But the current context goes too rarely reported: that this president is a socialist and anti-capitalist, who is actively engaged in destroying the private economy to foster greater dependence on the government.

@Chuck- No laugh line? I thought "raising the death-ceiling" was quite the knee slapper! But you're right - while I try to deliver a laugh as often as possible, the whole purpose of Hope n' Change Cartoons is to make serious points about serious issues. Like, oh, the survival of our nation. I'm glad you (and apparently others) realize that!

@Stan- Tasteless? Well, I certainly am not going to argue that a mass grave full of dessicated bodies is tasteful...nor was it meant to be. But more importantly, I'm afraid you may be missing the point if you say "budget negotiations and mass murder are not moral equivalents." I'm neither saying nor implying that they are - as I've said above, the thrust of today's cartoon is about the meaning and importance of words.

But...

If I did want to look for moral equivalence between mass murder and Obama's plans for our economy (and whether "compromise" and "meeting in the middle" is a good idea), I might point out that his anti-Israel and "hands off" Iran policies have made war in that region infinitely more likely...and that such a conflagration would spread across the world like a wildfire. I'd point out that Obamacare is likely to cost 78 million Americans to lose their insurance - and surely, in that number, some lives. I'd toss in that when America is realized to be not only insolvent but fiscally incompetent, we will no longer feed the poor, tend to the old and ill, nor be able to render medical attention to the third world.

Make no mistake - even the CBO and Obama's own people say that our current fiscal trajectory is "unsustainable," and the great American experiment may be over - OVER - within 10 years or less. And yes, millions will die because of it.

I can't shrug that off in the name of compromise or being "tasteful." The stakes are too high, and the consequences too unacceptable.

@Suzy- I'm not equating Barack Obama to Hitler, and generally can't stand it when people trot out Nazi analogies to try to support their arguments. The point of today's cartoon is "People, for the love of GOD, think about what these words actually mean." Because actual "thinking" in either the media or general population seems to be nearly as dead as the Dodo.

A necessary 2x4. Sad, but true. Hold fast, friends. We may need to offend people to wake them up.

John the Econ said...

Although Stilton's example might seem "extreme", it is no less true. The President and his sycophants in the media have been working overtime trying to get this "compromise" idea to resonate. But Boehner is starting to learn that this isn't going to work.

The entire reason that we've arrived at this point is because of compromise. The GOP has allowed the government to grow percentage-point by percentage-point until it's now clearly become out of anyone's control.

A better example (if you really want to use WWII metaphors) would be the Munich Accord. This was the "compromise" that free Europe made with Hitler to sacrifice Czechoslovakia in order avoid war.

And just what did Europe get for its "compromise"?

"The House and Senate are close to a deal. They both agree to raise the debt limit without tax hikes. The Senate wants it raised by two years, the House for one. [...] The only player who is holding out for tax hikes is the president, who has staked out a position to the left of his senators." http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/obamas-big-lie/

Whenever I hear Obama say "compromise" I can't help thinking of Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Chuck said...

There are many words used by the left that fall into the Inigo Montoya category of, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

That's why this conversation hit a nerve. Balance and Compromise are fine sounding words, but not when used as a deceit! It's how the left framed the debate about abortion for years: pro-choice vs. anti-abortion. "Pro" and "Choice" are wonderful, positive sounding words, while "Anti" and "Abortion" are the opposite. But when you look at the ideas behind the words, it reverses: what sounds positive results in death, while what sounds negative results in a life saved.

Since 1980 the fed debt ceiling has been raised 39x: 17x under Reagan, 4x under Clinton, 7x under Geo W Bush and 3x thus far under Obama.

I usually love your stuff, but today analogy is an epic fail given that that Reagan raised the debt ceiling nearly 6x more frequently than Obummer.

JustaJeepGuy said...

@Aaron,
Don't forget that Reagan thought he had a deal with the Demo_rat Congress: a $3 spending cut for every $1 tax hike. The Demo_rat Congress got their tax hikes, Reagan got NO spending cuts. I would submit that Reagan was W-A-A-A-A-Y more fiscally responsible than Barack Hussein, even with the debt ceiling raises. It pains me to even mention the two in the same sentence, Barack Hussein is such a weasel!

Suzy said...

Aaron...just because others did it in the past does not make it wise to keep on doing it. That's like saying...oh well...I maxxed out my credit cards before...I may as well just do it again, even though I cannot afford it.

Colby said...

Calling all delusional Liberals....

You, and millions of your hateful buddies are shouting about how many TIMES the debt ceiling was raised under Reagan. Let's talk about the increments and totals. It pales in comparison, and the socialist money grabber that claims to be our "leader" would throw a hissy fit if he only got the borrowed money that came in during Reagan's EIGHT years. BO thinks the sky will cave in if he doesn't get $2.5 trillion per YEAR. Since some of you may be "math challenged," that comes to $20 TRILLION dollars over 8 years.

Check out this link if you want some perspective....

http://yossigestetner.com/2011/07/27/on-debt-ceiling-obama-is-being-spoiled-compared-to-reagan/

One of the raises that Reagan signed raised the debt limit a whopping $20 billion. BO wouldn't bother bending over to pick that much up off the sidewalk.

Obama and the Democrats have racked up over five trillion in increased spending during the first 3 years of his "leadership." The debt ceiling was raised under two trillion during Reagan's 8 years. We also got unprecedented job growth AND tax cuts under Reagan. We are now experiencing recored unemployement and the threat of tax increases. Sorry, no comparison.... The only thing Obama and Reagan have in common is they both lived in the White house.

When all you libs are living in cardboard boxes and eating grass and twigs to stay alive, fell free to sit around the fire and discuss what a bad president Reagan was.

Angry Hoosier Dad said...

Funny that nobody sought to correct me that voting day is November 6th, not the 7th, 2012. It seems you all got the point. Good for you. Or... nobody but Stilton bothered to read it (sob).

@AHD - didn't want to say anything because the ID-10-Ts going to the polls on the wrong day would be a good thing. Got the point, just didn't want to spoil it!

@Colby - Another important fact about the Reagan-era borrowing is that it was done to (successfully!) finance the destruction of the Soviet Union, whereas BHO's insane spending spree is designed to turn the USA *into* the USSR!

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@John the Econ- the Munich Accord is a great comparison. Only now it's Obama who's writing the bad czechs. (ba-da-boom!)

@glorspitz- Unlike Inigo, I think Obama knows what the words he's using mean. Which is why he's such an artful liar.

@Chuck- For many years, I worked in advertising - so my "bullshit detector" is a finely-honed instrument. So I'm always appalled by the way words are mangled in the ways you've mentioned.

@Aaron's cc- Wow, an epic fail for me today? How very Homeric! Only...I disagree. Sure, the debt ceiling has been raised plenty of times in the past, but it's now being raised exponentially and insanely. Moreover, this particular debt-ceiling argument is important because it's now demonstrable that the Dems will never - NEVER - voluntarily reduce spending without a metaphorical gun to their miserable heads. At the moment, the debt-ceiling is that metaphorical gun. But if the Dems won't show any responsibility, then the pain (and yes, deaths) which will result from our nation's collapse will be anything but metaphorical.

@Colby- good link and great comments!

@Angry Hoosier Dad- Actually I caught the "Nov 7" date, but assumed that you meant we should encourage the dimwits to visit the polls the day after election day!

'Optimists, pessimists and compromisers'. Perfect. Today's cartoon is Art reflecting (unfortunately) Life.

What part of 'unsustainable' do leftists/statists just not comprehend?
Can they really think that we can borrow 44% of every dollar we spend, consequence-free, indefinitely, forever?

The can being kicked down the road is actually a grenade. And the pin is out.

@stilt--great cartoon, very pointed, and yes if Odumbass gets his way and destroys the USA I believe a lot more people will die then died in the holocaust and possibly the entirety of WWII. However I do disagree with NOT equating Obama and Hitler, Hitler and the Nazi party had the brown shirts that later became the SS. Obama has SCIU and their purple shirted goons. Hitler had the Nazi Youth groups, Obama wanted to create a paramilitary group out of our youth....I forget what speech it was when he was campaigning. Hitler rose to power by appealing to the "Common Man" and promising all of these changes for the common man. Obama rose to power by lying to the common man and promising hope and change. Hitler was a dictator, Obama wants to be a dictator, as a matter of fact he stated in a speech the other week that he still had 5 years in office, as if an election didn't matter. So yes there are a lot of parallels between these two EVIL men.

There is little doubt that Barack Obama is anchored soundly to the left and only moves a little to the center knowing he faces an uphill battle in 2012. If he should win that election everything he does in his second term will be appaulded by those groups like Move On and G. Soros. Those who doubt his "socialism" now will have do doubts them.

Chuck said...

@John the Econ - I read the article at the link you provided, and agree that the President is hurting the country in his words and actions. Near the end of the article, Langone says, "I think it's a travesty for a man of my success and my means to get anything from the federal government." I agree, but then he goes on to say, "I think I should pay more taxes."

Question: WHO'S STOPPING HIM? What he means is he thinks he, and everyone else of his means ought to be forced to pay more taxes ... he won't set an example and write a check. He wants the government to force others to unwillingly pay more because HE thinks is it the right thing to do.

The left: they can't see the illogic, forced servitude, thievery, and stupidity of their own self-righteousness.
