With all of the recent media interest in "Occupy Wall Street," very little attention has been paid to what's occupying the space between Joe Biden's ears. But that changed this week when the ever-quotable Vice President went to Flint, Michigan and declared that unless Barack Obama's tax-hiking jobs bill is passed, there would be more rapes and murders occurring.
Theoretically, this is because in Joe's simple worldview, fewer cops on the payroll equates to more violent crimes being committed. But since cops don't usually prevent those crimes, but only capture the wrongdoers after the fact, we have to try following Biden's tortured logic to its natural conclusions.
The first would be that it's unemployed cops who are the murderers and rapists, but they won't have time to engage in their hobbies if there's enough stimulus money to put them back into patrol cars.
If we want to let the cops off the hook, then the infrastructure-building Jobs Act could only cut down on violent crime if it's Michigan's construction workers who enjoy rape and murder when they have too much idle time.
Of course, it's possible that Joe simply meant that if the president's jobs bill continues to be thwarted, Obama may tell his pet mobs in the Occupy Wall Street movement to go ahead and rape, pillage, and "eat the rich" while playing bongo drums, smoking dope, and pooping on cop cars (which there won't be enough of without new stimulus money).
But the most likely possibility is that, God love him, Joe just doesn't have a freakin' clue what he's talking about, and just wanted to get out to make speeches and eat rubber chicken.
Because frankly, it's got to be really depressing hanging around the Whitehouse these days, now that even top Democrats are treating Obama like a raping, murdering, turd in the punchbowl.
Police warn that the suspect distracts victims by "asking for change"...

@SJ
Way to make one of my favourite memes (the "rapist search" pic) even funnier! I salute you, sir!
There is something to be said for the increased visibility of police on patrol that can deter some criminals, at least temporarily. If I were a generous sort I would grant Gaffemaster Joe that much. But I'm not, and he's such an overbearing ass that the only thing I'd ever want to grant him is a free lobotomy at Larry's Lobotomy Shack and Blacklight Museum.
C'mon! Give Sycophant One some credit for intelligence here! He was referring to the rape of the taxpayer and the murder of the rule of law! Of course, I don't see how passage of the jobs bill would end that...
Actually, I'm rather surprised that we haven't heard "the streets will burn" rhetoric from the usual suspects. The left really is demoralized.
Strangely, it was in the news a week or so ago that nationally, violent crime was actually down. Of course, instead of promoting this as a good thing, the usual voices in the media lamented how unfortunate it was that the prisons are so full. Go figure.
Meanwhile, it appears as though the "Occupy" movement is starting to turn a bit violent. Not a surprise; Most of the political violence in this country has been from the left.
Meanwhile, the Democrats are cautiously embracing the movement; another gift to the GOP. What's the message? "Stick it to the man - 4 more years?"
Never heard anyone but my dad (and me) say "turd in the punchbowl." LOL
I'm not so sure that "Biden" and "logic" belong in the same sentence, unless, of course it is cast negatively, as in: "Biden has no logic." How a piece of legislation your average murderer and rapist never heard of might quell their ardor for violence, I don't know. Though, I do marvel at how the press never seems to "quayle" ol' Joe, for he is a potatoe (sic) head, no?
But the post being murder and protests, I bring you these two anniversaries: Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard, strung up on a Wyoming fence and left to die, RIP kiddo.
And this day in 1979 a 1/2 million other Matthews got together in Washington for an, um "Honor Rally" and it was peaceful, and the Mall left pretty darn clean when we were done. I did my part. My, how we are different than the Leftist protests, which Joe supports, which always seem to wind up in violence, eh? :)
@Coon Tasty- For anyone not in the know, the "rapist" picture is a photoshopped version of a real newscast in which the newscaster looked suspiciously like the rape suspect in a police sketch. If you click on my version, it will take you to the original so you can get an additional laugh.
@Angry Hoosier Dad- I'm sure that increased police presence really does help reduce crime, but Biden's rhetoric is pure scaremongering.
@Emmentaler- Like you, I can't quite make that logical connection.
@John the Econ- It's interesting to hear growing support for Occupy Wall Street from politicians, news outlets, and celebrities...even though no one has any idea what they're for, only that they're a bunch of pissed off hippies who want "change" (and where have we heard that before?)
I hope the Dems continue to embrace the protestors - including (any minute now) when they become rioters. It should help clarify things for people who haven't been paying attention.
@Steve- It's a fine phrase, and should be used more often. Especially when describing the president.
@Jim Hlavac- Indeed, RIP for Matthew Shepard. And a hat's off for those peaceful marchers back in '79. I'm glad that progress has been made since then (even though there's still more needed).
