Can Do

Tonight is the final Presidental Debate of 2012 and may also be, in the opinion of Hope n' Change Cartoons, the night that Mitt Romney clinches the election by performing a chainsaw-style autopsy on Barack Obama's foreign policy.

Those on the Left claim that foreign policy is actually the president's strong suit - which isn't surprising considering the disastrous nature of his domestic policies. Still, there are a few foreign policy issues which the president may find difficult to talk his way out of:

• Why did Mr. Obama whisper to Russia's president (and an open mic) that he'd have "more flexibility" after reelection to cut back our missile defense system in a way pleasing to Russia's Vladimir Putin? And is this why Putin is now more relaxed about rattling nuclear sabers?

• Why does Mr. Obama refuse to answer any questions about the successful terror attack in Benghazi except when he's appearing on Dave Letterman, The View, or Comedy Central?

• Why did Mr. Obama support destabilizing uprisings in Libya and Egypt, but offer no support to demonstrators in Syria or Iran?

• Why has Mr. Obama given billions of taxpayer dollars to Brazil, Columbia, and Mexico to drill for oil, while cutting back access to American drilling fields and generally crippling our fossil fuel industries?

• In response to an Al-Qaeda terror attack that killed Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans, why did the president go to the United Nations and announce "the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam"?

• Has Mr. Obama secretly collaborated with Iran on the timing of a possible "October Surprise" announcement of a potential deal to (finally) allow inspections of nuclear enrichment facilities in return for the removal of economic sanctions? And as a follow-up, why are those sanctions even in place if foreign policy "expert" Joe Biden says Iran's enrichment of uranium isn't even a meaningful threat?

• Why is the president ready to throw away our military gains in Iraq and Afghanistan?

• Why is this Commander-in-Chief willing to slash the budget of the military with "sequestration" after his administration (and political party) was completely unable and unwilling to trim any significant expenses from the budget?

• Most importantly, after four years of foreign policy disasters, why do our allies now doubt us and our enemies not respect us? Is the world a better place than it was four years ago?

Frankly, Hope n' Change expects Mitt Romney to mop the floor with Obama tonight - barring interference from moderator Bob Schieffer or, possibly, the Secret Service.

And we expect to enjoy every minute of it.

And they're up against Lions / Bears on Monday Night Football. Sad that no supporters of the President in either Detroit Chicago will be watching. I do sincerely expect this to be about as one sided as the first one (if not worse) as Romney brings the hammer and points our what a SCOAMF this guy is, and the results of his policies. (See also unarmed "guards" @ embassy in Cairo)

I'm thinking I'll watch the game live, and catch the highlights of the Debate later... then again, my vote is solid regardless of the outcome.

@Pete(Detroit)....I too will skip watching the debate. I simply cannot stand to look at or listen to the grating, hectoring voice of the creepy spineless jellyfish otherwise known as the "leader of the free world". My wife and I watched 2016 yesterday, and even though there were no revelations for me, having read the D'Souza books, it still left me grinding my teeth and in a somewhat foul mood all day. I hope Romney wipes the floor with The Won, and I will celebrate with 9,000-10,000 at Red Rocks the next night.

My question is; which libtard fruit basket from the corrupt propoganda wing of "info-mation media" will we have coaching/abating "0" this time around? I'm more concerned about the so-called moderator's participation in this debate than I am with the "community organizer's".

Irene Peduto said...

@ TrickyRicky - D'Souza is forced to defend himself as the O admin. has tried to defame him - who'd a' seen it comin'? (That is how O has won many a campaign - by unsealing docs to DESTROY his competitor.
@ Stilton - the open mike comment to the Russian president is such an indictment, I can't believe O has any Americans in his camp. The line about those who slander the prophet of Islam - whew! When I'd heard it, I thought he was finished. I have been ever so wrong about that - including his election in 2008!
Russia & Europe have joined in the conversation to support O. I've read that they think Romney will endanger Americans - what are those people smoking?
If he isn't removed from office, the next 4 years will bring us higher gasoline & heating costs - not to mention everything else that has currently increased in price. I will watch the debate - I'm compelled!

Romney indeed does have a boatload of ammo for tonight. Here's hoping Schieffer will actually let Mitt finish a sentence here and there. Bob Schieffer might actually do better than the last two so called "moderators" because he fancies himself a journalist, but I ain't holding my breath.

As much as I would love to watch the Lions & Bears, I think I'll bite the bullet and at least try to watch the lion and the jackass. I figure the football game is only a click away. Then there's the wife's supply of MacAllen, Glenfiddich and Laphroig....

@Stilton,
I would like to say thanks. I recently bought one of those waterproof keyboards and it paid off today when I saw the second cartoon. You can bet Putin isn't the only world leader that will be dismayed to see Mitt Romney in the White House.

As much as Iran would probably like to keep the status quo, I'm not sure they would go along with the "we're stopping our nuke program" ruse. It would show weakness that they can ill afford should the election not go as planned. Still, we all know damn well somthing is going to happen before November 6!

@Tricky Ricky,
Red Rocks? I've been to a concert or two there, but a looong time ago....

Have to admit that I will take Da Bears over Duh Won any day. Though I've been a proud Hoosier for years, I was born in Illinois and have been a fan of the Monsters of the Midway for far longer. Besides, there is no gaffe that Mitt could commit that would cost him my vote now (and I expect none), and...I can watch the highlights tomorrow. How I love teh interwebs.

Hint: Don't start debating Romney for Obama. It makes Obama look weaker than he already is.

Now, let the games begin. First is a link from one of my friends that purports a conspiracy theory that Obama had coordinated with the Muslim Brotherhood to have our Ambassador kidnapped, but it went ‘horribly’ wrong when the MB couldn’t control the mob. Actually, it is one of the more plausible conspiracy theories he has sent me:

http://www.westernjournalism.com/october-surprise-gone-horribly-wrong/

Then, not to be outdone, Gloria Allred, in coordination with the Obama campaign is rumored to have one of her famous ‘victims’ out Romney on his insensitivity towards women 30 years ago. Does anyone really think that will work? Allred is an Obama/Democratic hack, was a delegate at the DNC, and (except for the moon-bat tabloid followers) has pretty much burned credibility with her ‘outing’ stories that never stand up (where are all the women who outed Cain? All have not pursued legal recourse, and have disappeared, same with Whitman’s illegal maid).

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/21/Did-Obama-Give-Gloria-Allred-s-Game-Away

This, IMHO, shows a campaign in last gasp panic mode. Then finally, leave it to the Donald to rattle the Twitterwaves of speculation:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82701.html?hp=r3

Lastly, NBC/WSJ poll is widely published that their D+6 poll has Obama/Romney in a tie, and Obama has garnered the all-important endorsements from Chavez, Castro, and Putin (though from what I’ve heard Castro is in a vegetative state – but that’s about par for Obama’s supporters). I plan to watch the debate, just to see the implausible excuses The Lightbringer comes up with. Romney should take command and do a Reganesque summary, similar to the answer he gave in the last debate.

@Pete(Detroit)- This is an easy call for me; I don't care about sports and IF Barry gets beaten over the head with his abysmal record, I want to see his pain live and in color.

@TrickyRicky- I can't stand to listen to B. Hussein either, but it IS quite refreshing to finally hear someone tell him he's wrong, he's not telling the truth, and that his policies are failures. Barry really doesn't like that, and after having his keester kissed by the media for four years, it definitely throws him off his game.

@Necron99- The liberal Bob Schieffer of CBS will be playing the part of saboteur - er, moderator - tonight.

@Irene Peduto- I, too, thought those remarks (and others like them) from Obama should have ended his political career. But the stories were underreported (or even unreported) by the MSM. The wonderful Dorothy Rabinowitz has a piece in today's Wall Street Journal in which she talks about this administration's believe that they can tell us that we didn't see what we just saw, and didn't hear what we just heard. And the liberal media does their best to reinforce the idea that anyone who remembers these horrible, revealing incidents is simply imagining things. But, as Dorothy points out, people are waking up - and lies will eventually give way to the truth.

@Colby- With that tasty lineup of Scotches, I should be watching the debate at your place tonight. But nooOOooo. I'll be watching while drinking cheap-ass Black Velvet canadian whiskey.

And I'm pretty sure that Putin does want Barry back for another four years - as does Iran, China, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hugo Chavez, and (as MAD Magazine would say) "the usual gang of idiots."

@Angry Hoosier Dad- I feel compelled to watch so I can comment based on the entirety of what goes on. Plus, as I said before, if Barry goes down hard I want to see it live.

@John the Econ- I hope that Schieffer really learned from Jim Lehrer. THAT'S the sort of debate I want to see tonight, where no one is saved (or penalized) by the clock, but rather they succeed or fail based on the strength of their arguments.

@SeaDog52- I think we've entered the portion of the campaign where wild metaphorical grenades are going to start being hurled around in hopes of causing enough confusion or character assassination that it makes a difference during early voting. By the time lies are proved to be lies, a few more million people will have already cast votes. It's going to get ugly, folks.

Gang of One said...

@ Stilton -- Well, there's also this 'October Surprise' gone not too well for The One™ and his Administration. But now, it's a 'November Surprise'.

@ Irene -- And yet, these same classless clowns want to push their already beaten down and debunked mantra regarding Benghazi.

Mitt MUST drive home the foreign policy failures of this pseudo-President, and make no bones about pointing out the criminal incompetence of these morons.

Mrs. Obama told a crowd Friday at the University of Wisconsin in Wausau.

“On Monday I led by example: I mailed in my ballot early,”

I wonder if anyone bothered to tell Mooch that mail-in votes are usually not counted unless the number received would make a difference, i.e., if there was a 90K vote difference and they had 45K mail-in ballots they probably would not count them until later, if at all.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Gang of One- The Iran leak is messy on any number of levels. Has Obama made a secret deal with Iran (as some have suggested)? Was this a deliberate Whitehouse leak which was perhaps prematurely released? It's easy to imagine that Obama hoped to reveal this during debate tonight as "proof" his sanctions had worked and that Mitt would have put us into an unnecessary war. But now that plan is in tatters - and the question arises YET AGAIN about why this Whitehouse is leaking, and why Eric Holder hasn't made good on his word to find out who's behind it (and seriously, how many people does he need to consider suspects? Six? A dozen?)

I want Mitt to pound the living rhetorical crap out of Obama tonight because it's important to do so. Because Obama's wretched policies put America and the world at greater risk.

@SeaDog52,
"...if there was a 90K vote difference and they had 45K mail-in ballots they probably would not count them until later, if at all."

Chewie's vote is going home to Illinois, where if there was a 90k difference, they would just magically find 91k ballots in somebody's car trunk, and all 91k of them would be votes for BO.

Still, that is too damn funny. I guess she's too upper crust to go vote at a polling place like us peons.

I'm going to really enjoy watching that moving van getting loaded in front of the White House. I just pray it is January 2013, and not 2017!

We have reached the crux of the fate of our nation and the very existence of ourselves as a people. I really don't think it will matter how tonights debate goes. Its down to us and them. The True Americans will vote for Romney because he is the only real choice we have, the libtard "0" drones will blindly vote for beloved leader regardless of or in spite of his performance, & the fence sitters will avoid the polls or write in Alfred E. Neuman in an attempt at feeble protest.

It sickens me when I think of what a large portion of this nation has fallen under the spell of that wretched slug and his corrupt gang of cronies.

I keep hearing Axelrod(?) mealy-mouthing the spin that Romney/Ryan are politicizing the Benghazi outrage, and I keep hearing this meme about Ryan voting for a budget-cut to Embassy security. IIRC, the budget crap has been fact-checked and Ryan is not guilty of the calumny the AdminCampClowns are pushing. Can anyone provide me links to accurate sources that put this meme to rest?

Romney, and the Right should be raking Obama and his merry band of pranksters over the fire, for their inaction and malfeasance.

@Gang of One: Try this

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/oct/16/joe-biden/joe-biden-says-paul-ryan-cut-embassy-security-300-/

Not exactly clear cut, but if it was, it wouldn't be a Biden talking point.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@mlester101- There's plenty of material for Romney to use, and I hope he does so in a direct and unsubtle way.

@Colby- I assumed that Michelle's mail-in ballot was going to Ohio, or wherever it might be most useful.

And regarding that moving van, I'd happily help load it!

@Necron99- I feel like we're at the tipping point (and that's being optimistic). But I also feel like tonight's debate can make a difference. Historically, some people who haven't paid attention to ANYthing (including the earlier debates) watch this one because it's their last chance to pretend they're responsible citizens. And hopefully they'll get a helluva show tonight.

@SeaDog52- I like that song. And considering that Obama is now running his campaign on borrowed money, it's entirely apt.

@Gang of One & SeaDog52- Per the link SeaDog52 shows, the source cites Biden's claim as "half-true." But that's like being "half-pregnant;" either you are or aren't. In this case, Biden's claim is simply NOT true, because Ryan's proposed budget was never enacted, and so it caused no cuts in anything, anywhere, for any reason. Additionally, the security force withdrawn from Benghazi was paid for with DOD funds, but pulled by the State Department for political reasons. It wasn't about money - it was about showing the world that Obama's Libya policy had worked and that Al Qaeda was vanquished. Two huge lies which cost four Americans their lives - and kicked off additional lies going all the way into the Oval Office.

@Anonymous- I saw the "lower third" graphic showing the election results with Obama winning online, and now there's a second television station which accidentally posted the (ahem) final election results on their webpage - again, with Obama winning. It could just be that they're preparing their election night graphics and accidentally broadcast them. Or...

@Gang of One- Exactly. Proposed budgets which the Senate never even looks at don't affect security. Period.

Regarding the "accidental" airing of news graphics, I hadn't thought about the possibility of someone actually trying to out a conspiracy. If they did, I hope they're wearing kevlar.

@Emmentaler & Gang of One- Okay, that's getting a little creepy.

And WTF is the Whitehouse saying about Benghazi now (per your link)?! That the CIA thought there was a protest for 11 days, but that B. Hussein in his infinite wisdom pronounced it a terror attack on September 12th?! But Susan Rice and Hillary didn't hear his pronouncement, and he himself subsequently forgot it?!

I swear, Barry needs to be roasted over an open fire during the debate tonight (I speak metaphorically, of course).

Awwww, crapness. Only thing worse than watching Romney ALMOST hammer President SpinWeasle was watching Lions offense utterly fail against Chicago. Da Bears had their number, defensively. Question - if the QB you're using is NOT able to score from inside the 10 in 3 attompts in the 1st half, why the HELL do you not pull him? WTF?!?! D was good, but offense, special teams, utterly lacking.
Oh, was I talking football? Gosh, you could say the same for the debate. Fmeh...
I mean, to those of us who follow 'real' news, not just the LSM, President CrapWeasle looked like he was holding a bag of turd burgler profits, and trying to sell them as 'magic beans'. To the Obama Phone crowd? He was golden! Problem is, a gilded poo is still, at it's core, poo... What a total dick.
