Democrats' Fried Chicken Comes Home to Roost

IT'S OFFICIAL - THE GOP HAS WON CONTROL OF THE SENATE!

Hope n' Change congratulates the GOP on their election victory, and looks forward to seeing what will happen in the coming months when the Senate actually starts considering (and voting on) legislation for the first time in years instead of existing only as Harry Reid's inanimate human shield to protect Barack Obama's political ass.

But just why did the Democrats lose? We think a significant part of the answer can be found in the two cartoons below, which we posted on social media on Election Day 2014.

obama, obama jokes, cartoon, political, humor, midterm, election, 2014, stilton jarlsberg, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, fried chicken, michelle, black

As the campaign boiled down to its final hours, the Democrats decided to quit pretending that they had anything to offer in terms of ideas or successful accomplishments and instead made blatant, unsupported accusations of racism in order to browbeat black Americans into voting like racists.

Among the worst offenders, Michelle Obama said in a televised interview that black Americans should vote a straight Democratic ticket because...uh...because they're black! Yeah! Don't actually think about what the candidates have said or done, good or bad  - just go vote Democratic and then reward yourself with some good fried chicken!

Sweet mother of pearl! Why didn't she throw in watermelon, tap-dancing, and a medley of Stephen Foster songs about the joys of picking cotton now that her husband is "Massa?!"

And speaking of racist a-holes,  Eric Holder jumped into the fray by sending "election monitors" to 18 states (selected using the "independent and non-partisan" criteria the DOJ is famous for) to assure that voters wouldn't be "treated differently because of their race or color." Which we suppose means that he'll be overturning election results and filing lawsuits in many districts today unless white voters got fried chicken, too.

The monitors were also tasked with making sure that every polling place had taken sufficient steps to assure that people who can't speak a single freaking syllable of English would be able to vote easily and, perhaps, often.

But clearly, Americans have tired of the Left's divisive rhetoric of racism and hatred, especially in a time of multiple crises both domestic and foreign. Crises which have been exacerbated - and not infrequently created - by years of Democrat malfeasance.

Yesterday's election is not going to solve all of America's problems. But it was a big win, giving our nation more cause for real hope and change than we've seen in a very long time.

It's too early for "coffee" but not too late for a toddy!
Now it's time to build some fires to hold these people's feet to so they will do what they said they would do. Remind them early and often who voted them into office and who will vote them out if we don't get dome action.

Not to be the turd in the punchbowl here, but I wonder how long it's gonna' be before the Republicans screw the pooch and start acting like the dems did. The main reason they (Repubs.) got themselves into this mess in the first place is because of their policies and attitudes back in the mid-to early part of the decade (remember the "Bridge to nowhere"?). I can only hope and pray that the right things will be done to put our nation back on track, but I'm not confident......

I was afraid to turn on the news this morning and when I did it was like a miracle. Here's hoping the winners will live up to their campaign promises. PS: I really don't like fried chicken!

Good news, to be sure, but sorry to say that without a veto-proof majority, they can't accomplish a thing for the next two years. And, between now and January, "he" still has his pen and a majority in the Senate with which to wreak havoc. Then, as I said yesterday, all hell breaks loose during the next 2 years (because all the delayed crap starts to stink) and the media blames the GOP majority in the House and Senate, and the GOP gets trounced in 2016 ... 'cause that's a presidential election year and the left can get their base to the polls then, fried chicken or no (walking dead included)

It is good to see that, despite all their fraud and race baiting, the Dems were soundly defeated. It remains to be seen, however, if the Reps will really do any better. Until 3rd party candidates are at least allowed in the debates, it will most likely just be business as usual in DC. As Ron Paul said: the true winner of this election is the status quo:

It's a start. Potentially a great start. As Ken Buck, who won Colorado's 4th congressional district handily said last night, the GOP has been given a two year contract to do something, and they had better do something, stand for something, and clearly differentiate themselves from the Dem/Socialist nightmare that was repudiated yesterday. I was paraphrasing there, BTW.

@It's No Gouda- You're right. The need to motivate and hold accountable our representatives only begins on election day.

@REM1875- Ouch, but funny and accurate (at least in the eyes of the old guard GOP).

@Grumpy Curmudgeon- And Yes We Did!

@FlyBoy- The GOP's past sins are certainly a huge part of the mess we're currently in. Still, I'll take even a sliver of hope that the party may start shifting (willingly or unwillingly) to the Right.

@Judi King- I think you had the right idea just turning the TV on after the screaming was over to see the final results. I watched the whole thing in real time, which was pretty stressful. Except when I occasionally looked in at MSNBC for comic relief. Trust me, they're all Bozos on that bus.

@Chuck Baker- To defeat the president's veto, the GOP is going to have to offer up some legislation so popular that Barry will either have to pass it or pay a political price for his veto. Or at least, that's the fantasy I'm allowing myself for the rest of the day.

As for the smell of rot growing over the next two years, you're absolutely right. The question will be who loses the blame game.

@Geoff King- Like you and others here, I'm unconvinced that these election results will really change that status quo much. On the other hand, hearing the wails and lamentations of liberals today gives me hope.

@TrickyRicky- Paraphrase away. Buck's statement is exactly right.

@Grafton Cheddar- They're particularly dangerous when wounded.

@Chip Head- I think the sneering ivory tower types would characterize the election results as "commoner's sense."

@Colby Muenster- The next two months are going to be interesting and no doubt volatile. I think Barry and his Walking Dems are going to try to exact revenge on our nation.

John the Econ said...

Well, I have to hand it to both sides; this was possibly the most content-free election ever. (Even more so than the last) The Democrats had less-than-nothing to offer, being limited in options to either distancing themselves from Obama as best they could, to pretending that the reality of the last 8 years of Democrat control never happened. Outside of the beltway (where due to government expansion unemployment is under 5%) real people everywhere else continue to be unemployed, uninsured, paying more for insurance, working more for less, just treading water, or some combination of. As I've said here many times, there's absolutely no amount of marketing that can overcome that dismal a reality for that many people.

Meanwhile, the Republicans contributed absolutely nothing to the mix, beyond proclaiming their opposition to Obama. That message only worked in the sense that the Democrats had nothing more to offer either. But beyond that, there's little mandate. The economy is moribund. Repealing ObamaCare is pointless since the collateral damage is already done and we can't go back. Desperately needed "tax reform" won't happen. Obama still has his famous "phone and pen", and will never sign anything that would actually empower business or individuals at the expense of the state.

So I really don't expect much to happen. As @REM1875 and @FlyBoy pointed out above, the establishment GOP will thank the Tea Party for showing up yesterday and then summarily send us home for the next 2 years, just like the Democrats do to the Blacks after the friend chicken has been consumed.

And to @Geoff King, as has been happening since 2008, the "race baiting" will continue to become less and less effective for the Democrats. "African Americans" represent a shrinking minority in America now, being overtaken by Hispanics. And contrary to the popular narrative, Hispanics are largely more conservative as a demographic, especially on social issues.

As for the first lady, she's one crass act. Just another fine example of who it is who really wants to keep the downtrodden on the plantation.

Color me pessimistic, but when I hear the term 'shellacking' in reference to liberal midterm defeats, I envision most if not all of those progressive nazi scum dead or in prison. Oh well. Christmas is just around the corner. Dear Santa... And speaking of pessimism, allow me to reiterate a little poem (stop me if you've heard this before):

Glass half full?

Alas, the optimist and the pessimist, the truth is rather droll. While the optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist sees the hole. A cutesy little piece of prose from a grade school reading book. And a universally accepted truth, held without a second look. Now consider the realist, who lives outside that dream - he knows that things are in fact not always what they seem. As nature tells the biggest lies to fool a watchful prey, the realist knows to question all - to not is naiveté'. To eat a fecal doughnut would be an act remiss, yet worse to try to wash it down with half a glass of piss. As scheming politicians view constituents as grist, the glass half empty kind of guy would be the optimist.

Bruce Bleu said...

Yes, what is the world coming to when you can't even rely on Jerry Garcia's band to skew the vote to elect worthless bastards to office.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Fred Ciampi- Thank you for the Fawkes News update (grin).

@Judi King- In fairness, the interviewer sort of set things up by asking Michelle if as part of the "Souls to the Polls" initiative, voters could enjoy soul food afterwards. So Michelle was giving them permission for a little treat if they performed their trick like trained animals.

@John the Econ- You're right that this campaign seemed to boil down to the GOP saying "We're not Obama!" and the Dems saying (less credibly) "Neither are we." Not exactly inspiring sentiments.

And the very real damage to our country and economy remains unchanged and, as you point out, a still-progressing juggernaut.

I do hope we'll see less race-baiting in the future, but I wouldn't bet on it. Michelle and her friends on the Left have no problems keeping many black Americans enslaved as long as they are ruled by a "good massa."

@Proof- It's sad when America's first lady essentially says "Don't think, just vote!"

@Daddy Dave- Say, a fried chicken lunch is sounding pretty good today!

The Cherry On Top - Sandra Fluke Loses Her CA State Senate Seat

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Readers- Although few of us are doing cartwheels today, we really DO need to feel good about the very real significance of yesterday's elections.

Yes, Obama will continue to be an anti-American pain in the rear with "a phone and a pen." But look at the number of GOP governors there will be, and all of the down ballot positions which likely came from people voting a straight ticket.

Government on the state level has a huge impact on people, and is the laboratory in which ideas can be tested before getting a national tryout. And the fact that people wanted Republicans (or, as I prefer to think of them, non-Democrats) at the state level (even Illinois!) may well be indicative of a welcome mood shift in the country.

And let's not forget how this election will have a huge impact on Barry's ability to put lifelong liberal judges in office, choose Supreme Court members, or completely ignore budget restraints.

We've been burned by having hope before - but I think there is cause today to have hope again. Let's enjoy it!

@Colby Muenster- I want Barry's desk to be stacked so high with unsigned bills that he can't even be seen.

@REM1875- I'm guessing that Michelle is trying to invoke martial law to close down fried chicken joints today in order to punish the rabble who failed her.

@CenTexTim- Per my comments above, what the Hell - let's feel hopeful today and see how that works for us!

@Froaderick Barbarossa- Ass kicking sounds good. Let's demand it!

So, it's happiness and enthusiasm tempered with dread and foreboding. Perhaps they can't get repeals of laws signed by Obama, but they can certainly vote a budget and stick to it. And they can still hope for activist judges to overthrow ObamaCare too.

Surely setting a tone of trimming down the size of the thing would be good. Though I have the feeling they're just going to pretend to be better managers. I'm sure there's plenty good they can do -- and plenty they can screw up or just not deal with.

But if they go with Ted Cruz's crazy idea of a constitutional amendment against gay Americans they're going to blow it all. I'd rather they didn't. And stick to real issues.

John the Econ said...

Sandra the-middle-aged-woman-who-thinks-it's-our-job-to-pay-for-her-recreational-sex Fluke couldn't even get elected in California? You mean there's still some measurable threshold for sanity there? That does make me giggle. Too bad though, I honestly was looking forward to mocking her every word as a "public figure". You know what would make a good reality TV show? One where Sandra Fluke had to get an actual job that was not subsidized or political patronage, but where she actually had to add value to an actual employer's operation. Betcha she can't do it.

I didn't watch too much as I was working, but I also enjoyed watching the MSM types in denial all evening as the reality began to sink it. I was amused by all the "too close to call" races where the GOP had trounced the Democrat by over 15%. Guess they were still hoping the dead hadn't voted yet.

Obama is going to have a presser in a few hours. Will be interesting to see what he says, and if he can say any of it without a scowl. I'm wondering if he'll be able to resist saying something like "I guess you all won't be getting a raise now" That's what you get for voting incorrectly.

@Stilton, for decades I've argued that all Federal programs be "lab tested" in Washington DC, which has the worst schools and high crime before any program be unleashed upon the rest of the nation.

Wow, I didn't see that 'R' wave coming! I'm always afraid to be too hopeful at election time. It must be that more people just weren't buying the D's lies anymore about the economy, jobs, etc. Worried about the botched foreign policy issues. Gosh, the list goes on & on.

In Illinois, I think Rauner won for Gov. because he is really focused on improving education. As a businessman he has already been actively doing his part for charter schools. He had Pastors and other prominent blacks the south-side of Chgo. openly supporting him. Not to mention that he poured millions of his own money into the campaign.

We are still stuck with Dick Durbin, he's been there over 30 years. I really want term limits.

Again, afraid to be too hopeful, but, I am optimistic that the R's are going to roll up their sleeves and get to work doing what the people that elected them to do. We'll see.

He will completely wear out the race card, in my opinion, because I don't feel he even cares what ANYBODY thinks at this point...and never did!

The golfing and vacationing will be enjoyed to the utmost, as he makes his plans for after he leaves office. His presser was the same old BS. More pandering to the "middle class" to which he's been so destructive. But at least he admits to his "naive belief" that his policies actually help people.

He takes credit for creating millions of minimum-wage jobs, a oil boom he actually fights, a record stock market that helps few out of the upper class, and low interest rates that punish everyone else. Gimme more please!

Then he stumps for the minimum wage. Will the GOP fall for it?

Democrats constantly lament that we need a higher minimum wage to help "families" get ahead. I have yet to hear a Republican with the balls to reply like this:

This administration celebrates the creation of minimum wage jobs, and then demands everyone get a raise so their not minimum wage anymore. What we don't need is a higher "minimum wage". What we don't need are people trying to raise families on minimum-wage jobs. What we need is a robust economy where employers compete for employees instead of the other way around. That will never happen as long as we beat down employers as the enemy of the republic, and continue to flood the labor marketplace with cheap labor unenforced borders.

Is that so hard or controversial to say and understand? I guess so.

Or is it that the "conservatives" in Washington or running for office don't understand this either?

Judi King said...

All I hear between the ahhs and umms is him setting up the Republicans for not getting anything done. Total BS!
