Veto Early and Veto Often

In Washington, "spin" is the art of presenting information in a way that is heavily biased in your own favor or reinterpreting events (and even facts) to change the perception of reality. And like the "spin" on a wild carnival ride, it can also make you dizzy and throw up.

It is this latter definition that comes to mind in association with a recent Whitehouse statement that says if Democrats lose the House in November, Republicans are planning on "simply shutting the government down altogether."

And how would this happen? The Republicans would pass spending bills "that Obama is likely to veto, and Republicans would not be able to override such a veto, creating a standoff that could cause Congress to grind to a halt."

And that's the Republicans' fault...?

The Whitehouse statement then goes on to repeatedly lambast Republicans as "partisans" without seeming to care that they've just gone on record as saying the president will likely veto bills that he knows nothing about, which were passed by the people's elected representatives, only because they were written by Republicans.

Stop the spin. We want to get off.

I can only imagine that the downside to shutting down the government would be that our spending would drop...down side? Hell, that's what we have all been wanting...Team Obama is on the way out and that is where they need to be. O. U. T. !
This great Republic can only survive if We the People retake the House and Senate. Then the battle really begins as we must hold those in office truly accountable. Never again can we allow ourselves to become apathetic, Politically correct, lazy or uninformed. It's like they said in the movie, "Give a mouse a cookies and he's gonna want a glass of milk!" There is no way we can deal with Progressive Socialists any longer. They have proven that the total destruction of the Republic is what they want. We cannot allow them to even think that their "entitlement mentality" is good at ANY level. Government has no place at the Charity Table...time to ween America off the Government tet and stand like men and make it on their own.

It worked before and the president successfully blamed Newt Gingrich and the Republicans for the shut-down. I'm not convinced it will work this time for the following: There is a stronger alternate media now that does a better job of disseminating truth to counter the MSM spin. The economic/jobs situation is so bad, and we aren't seeing this regime doing anything positive to alleviate it, that people won't be as quick to jump on Obama's blame-the-Republicans bandwagon. Finally, if they have a brain in their heads, the Republicans will be ready for it.

Readers- Good comments. And while we hope that an influx of Republicans can accomplish positive things, even gridlock looks pretty darn good under this president.

It's disappointing (albeit not surprising) that Obama is already saying he will veto any bills the Republicans come up with that address joblessness and rising debt. The man who ran on a platform of post-partisanship is actually among the most partisan who have ever held the office of president.

So, by their own admission, they state that 0bama will behave like a petulant child slapped for digging too deeply into the cookie jar? Why does that analogy seem so apt?

When Government warns us that they might shut down they are signaling just what kind of self-important Socialist twits they really are.
Government just needs to get out of the way.

bipartisanship.

Obama got elected on this promise. This promise when into the can about two weeks after inaugeration, when the stimulus passed under partisan votes. however, there was bipartisan support against.

then there was healthcare. again, passed on partisan votes. read the link below, especially the vote on the site for/against. http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3590/actions_votes

the tea part: 4 in 10 aren't republican. they are a mix of dems and indies.

in two short years, obama has achieved bipartisanship. just not in the way he intended. which leads to november: if the dire predictions come to pass, agent 0 will have no excuses. There was bipartisan support in the house against his actions. Legitimately, there will be some bipartisan bills on his desk if (knock on wood) any or both houses turn elephant.

let's see him spin that.

I'm trying to see the downside of the government shutdown...

-No new entitlement programs
-Executive branch wouldn't have any money to spend on current lefty endevors
-IRS might have to shut down... :)

Ya, I don't really see a downside except that the government might stop being shutdown at some point.

Maybe if the o-dumb-one does veto all bill from a republican congress the members might decide to begin the proceedings for misfeasance, malfeasance, nonfeaseance in office and impeach his donkey-ass.
